In the pass game, displays a smooth release game and a good pre-snap recognition of coverage. Good route running ability, he understands how to attack leverage and manipulate DB’s. He eats up space vs off-man and has an elite cross over step to create separation on 45 degrees vertical deep pass. He shows good route pace and variation to keep DB’s guessing. Good play strength and hand usage to create separation with good acceleration in and out of breaks. He does his best work in the slot and is very good at finding soft spot vs zone coverage over the middle of the field, Outstanding hands, he fully extends and has very natural hands and is not afraid to take a hit. Weaknesses: He is limited to being a slot WR only at the next level. He is limited working vertically and will struggle there at the next level. He will struggle to create separation when players get hands on him in press-man. He is not overly explosive after the catch and won’t blow the defense away with his speed.
Summary: Amon-Ra St. Brown projects to be a starting slot WR at the next level. He wins with quickness, strength and pace variation on routes to get open. He is strong at the catch point at all levels and is good after the catch. He will be a reliable option for his QB at the next level. He is a bit limited with his long speed and to play outside WR with consistency.
