Class: Redshirt Senior

D.O.B: – –

Strengths: Jack Jones has very good athletic ability, with very good COD, quickness, agility, hip fluidity, long speed, and body control, with good balance. In the pass game, he is at his best playing off-man coverage where he can sit and break on balls with his very good AA. He shows good mental processing to key and diagnose route concepts with good route anticipation. He has solid LOS skills, showing solid patience in press with solid feet and technique and stays squared. Very good feet to mirror and match and very good COD to match any athlete. He has good eye discipline in man and zone. Good zone awareness and keeps good spacing and leverage. Very good man coverage and does a good job of weaving to maintain his leverage and stay in phase. Very good transition skills and closing speed to get downhill in a hurry. Jones’ best trait is his outstanding ball skills showing very good tracking and immaculate timing to show very consistent on ball production. He is a playmaker that is always around the ball. His best fit at the next level will probably be in the slot. He is good in slot coverage and can easily mirror and match the quick WR’s. Very consistent pedal plant and break on the ball. He is a solid tackler and does his job in run support. Excels in the short-to-intermediate area where he can see the ball and break on it. He shows good competitive toughness and is physical in coverage.
Weaknesses: He is very small and will lose jump balls to taller WR’s on the outside. He can get over powered by stronger WR’s. He does not play a lot of press-man and can struggle here due to size. He is not over eager in run support and does not always get involved. He can miss some tackles vs bigger guys.
Summary: Jack Jones projects to be a slot CB at the next level that can help a team win. He is a very good athlete that can play both zone and man coverage. He can mirror any WR’s and is at his best making transitions in off-man and making plays on the ball. He has the tools to be a very good special teams player. Due to his size he can be a bit limited.
Grade: Slot CB/Third Rounder
